Refund and cancellation

The first month

Email hello@gethappytales.com within 30 days of the first charge, from the address on the account. We refund that first month. You do not have to give a reason, and you do not have to fill in a form.

What we refund is the amount that first charge actually took:

• On a monthly plan, the amount charged for the first month. If the pay screen gave you half off, we refund the half-price amount you paid, not the later full price.
• On a yearly plan, one twelfth of the yearly price. At $397 a year, that is $33.

One refund of this kind per subscription. Tales already delivered stay yours, to read and to print at home.

We send the refund to the original payment method, through Stripe. We do it within 10 business days of your email. Your bank can take longer to show it.

After those 30 days

Cancel any time. Email us from the address on the account. No phone call. When the account has a cancel control, you may use that instead. We confirm by email.

You are not charged again after the period you have already paid. We do not refund the rest of a period that has already started, except where the law where you live requires it, or where the next section applies. Tales already delivered stay.

If we do not deliver

If we miss a tale you paid for, email us. We deliver it, or we refund the unused part of that period. If we end the subscription for our own reasons and you have not broken the terms, we refund the unused part of the period you paid.

Pause instead

You can pause for up to three months instead of cancelling. New tales stop. Tales already delivered stay. On a monthly plan we do not bill a month that is fully paused. On a yearly plan, a pause does not refund the year. Weeks inside a pause are not owed later.

Please email us before a bank dispute

If the refund above covers you, email us and we will refund it. If a charge is sent back through the bank before we have had a chance to do that, we may pause new tales on that subscription until the dispute is finished. A bank dispute does not remove a refund this policy already owes you.
